June is Pride Month. A time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual+) community and focus on diversity and inclusivity. This is also the time to reflect on past and present inequities; but remembering those who paved the way for the LGBTQA+ community and who continue to do so.

The LGBTQIA+ community commemorates a tipping point in history — the Stonewall Uprising, which lasted 6 days in Manhattan in June 1969 as police clashed with LGBTQIA+ protesters. Communities across the country hold parades, workshops, celebrations, and concerts. Marches for civil rights and awareness take place.  There is no one way to celebrate!
